Getting Cove to NAPA
Taranaki
Hi everyone, it's me - Cove, and I need your help!
A very big life changing opportunity is here and I really need some help to raise funds to achieve some big goals!
If you don't already know, I have an extremely rare genetic condition that causes a lot of issues for me. I am the only one in New Zealand with this condition and have been for 50+ years. There is limited research on my condition and a lot of unknowns. My parents were told that I wouldn’t make it through my first year of life, and they were also told I will never walk, talk, eat or drink.
You'll be happy to know I am a big 3 year old now and am doing really well. BUT I know I can achieve more!
Mum and Dad want to take me over to NAPA (Neurological and Physical Abilitation) in Australia for a 3 week Intensive Therapy course. During this course I will hopefully learn how to weight bear, chew and swallow different textures, sit independently, walk in my walker, and communication with my devices. We are hopeful to gain a spot in an intensive course towards the end of this year or beginning of next year.
But of course with big goals, comes a big price!
Any bit will help, I will be soooo grateful if you could please donate to help me achieve my goals!!!
Love, Cove xxx
I am Cove's Mother
Flights, accommodation and the Intensive Therapy course at NAPA. If we do not meet our goal, we will put the funds away until we are able to raise more funds to get her there. We are determined!!!!!
WE DID IT! 1 September 2024
THANK YOU!!!
Alex, Cove, Lottie and I are so so so excited to let you all know that with all combined donations/fundraisers we have reached our $30,000 target! We can’t even believe we are writing this! Thank you from the absolute bottom of our hearts to every single person who organised fundraisers, everyone who bought raffle tickets, donated prizes, came along to our events, shared our posts or donated to our givealittle. We are truly just speechless at how many people stepped up for us and showed us who our village really is! Honestly still in shock at how faithful our God is, always making a way!
The next steps: Cove has been accepted into NAPA and has been given her therapy recommendations, which is 4 hours of therapy a day (physio/DMI therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and feeding therapy), 5 days a week, for 3 weeks. We will be going to the Brisbane clinic so we can also visit our family over there. We are on a waitlist for a December spot (someone needs to pull out for us to get it) otherwise we need to register for 2025 at the beginning of October and we hopefully will get a spot in early 2025.
Thank you again - we appreciate it so much 🩷🩷
