Fundraising for a 3rd year NZ Institute of Fashion Technology student to attend The Indian Apparel and Textile Practicum 23 June 2019
Nationwide
Michael my son, is a recipient of a Prime Minister's Scholarship for Asia.
The Scholarship builds lifelong friendships and networks in India and promotes acceptance of other cultures.
He will be attending the Indian Apparel and Textile Practicum (2019) at Bannari Ammin Institute of Technology in southern India for six weeks.
We are fundraising for the financial shortfall to cover passport, vaccinations, travel insurance, daily personal costs and hopefully some authentic Indian silk for his last assignment before graduation on his return to New Zealand.
I'm a proud mum .
Im so keen to see Michael start to weave the threads that will sew his life into a rich taspestry of creative beauty that can be shared on stage.
Michael was encouraged by his sewing teacher in school to create and achieve.
Sewing was the only subject he was passionate about.
Before he was even old enough to receive a student allowance, he applied for, and won a scholarship to attend NZ Institute of Fashion Technology in Wellington.
We set himself up in a flat and soon he found a part time sewing job to make ends meet.
Quite an acheivement for a 17yr old who struggled to fit in at school.
He is now enjoying his 3rd year, and is even more focused with his sights set on designing for Broadway.
To cover financial shortfall of travel-related expenses not covered by Scholarship.
