Getting Tjokker to NZ

  • The test results are in!

We woke up to very good news this morning - Tjokker's blood test results have arrived! We are so excited as this was the step of the process that has the longest wait-time.

Unfortunately that does not mean Tjokker can be loaded on to a plane just yet - now comes another round of blood tests, more vaccinations and his import permit application. When they told us this is a long process, they were definitely not joking!

We cannot wait to have our boy here and we're already planning for all the fun things we are going to do with him as soon as he arrives. Stay tuned - we'll keep you updated all the way! xx

Hi everyone! It has been a while since we have given you guys an update, but that’s because the wheels of pet travel turn sloooow. Unfortunately we are still waiting for Tjokker’s blood test results. It has been just over three weeks since his blood samples were sent to the lab, so it will likely be at least another month before we hear anything back. We are trying our best to be patient (although some days that can be quite hard!) Hopefully the next time we check in with an update, we’ll have some good news! xx

  • Blood tests done!

Hi everyone. This brave little guy went for his blood tests today and he was a total champ about it! Didn't even try to escape from the vet's table once. Of course his good behaviour earned him all his favourite snacks from Grandma!

Tjokker gets spoiled way too much at his grandma and grandpa's house, but I have to admit - it is hard to say no to that face!

Now we have to wait for the results of the blood tests. The vet says these usually take about three weeks, but with the Covid-19 backlog at the laboratory, it will likely take much longer now. We might even have to wait up to three months.

That's ok since we are still waiting for flights to become available too. No updates on that front just yet!

We'll keep you updated as soon as we have news. For now we are keeping positive and continue to trust that everything will fall into place so we can reunite with our handsome boy!

    Sending love from NZ. x

And just like that, three weeks flew past and Tjokker’s fundraiser has come to an end. To all our generous donors: THANK YOU!! From the bottom of our hearts, we are forever grateful.

We did not reach our fundraising goal, but please don’t feel despondent, because we certainly don’t! Your generous donations have given us the amazing head-start we needed and we are more confident than ever that everything will fall into place to reunite with our sweet boy.

Thank you to every person who donated on and off this platform, who cheered us on and shared words of encouragement! You kept our spirits up on the tough days.

I also have to mention Dewald and Frané, the two amazing people taking care of our Tjokker while he is still in South Africa - they have hearts of gold and have given Tjokker nothing but love and care since we left. There are no words to express our gratitude towards them!

We continue with this journey and we won’t stop until Tjokker is back home where he belongs. Thank you all for believing in us. ❤️

Tjokker visited the vet this week (his least favourite place!) and got all the travel vaccinations needed for his long trip to NZ. Now we have to wait 30 days and then he’ll be ready for his first round of blood tests. It is a long process, but we are very excited to know we are slowly but surely getting it done! Thank you again to all of you for all the donations, shares, prayers and words of motivation!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Tjokker’s journey to NZ!! We are so grateful for the amazing benevolence we’ve experienced! We are still a long way from our goal, but we are confident everything will fall into place to get our fur-baby back to us.

Tjokker is scheduled to go for his first round of travel vaccinations within the next few days. We are very excited to tick off another step in this long process! We will be sure to keep you updated as we go along.

P.S. We were sent this adorable picture yesterday! It is very chilly in SA at the moment and seems Tjokker will do anything for a bit of sun - even if he has to curl himself around an olive tree!
