Support a fledgling artist on the journey to become a recognised and influential kiwi artist.
Nelson / Tasman
A bright young artist, living and studying (Y13) in Nelson has the opportunity to go to Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) but needs funding as no scholarships are given to students outside USA.
Grace has exceptional abilities and a childhood with many changes is reflected in the variety of disciplines, styles and media of her work. She is constantly striving to develop herself personally and artistically and intends to expand her artistic vocabulary through study at this renowned Art school.
“Art is my raison d’etre. I live and breathe for the familiarity of pencil upon paper and the endless possibilities that the subject embodies. The answer to ‘what do you want to do with your life’ for me is obvious and it always has been. I appreciate how fortunate I am to have a true vocation but I live in a world where Art is not always considered a real job and an opinion often expressed is that for myself, the Dux of my school, a career in creativity would be a waste.
This opportunity will help me impact people's lives in a positive way and change how they interact with art. I hope it will begin my journey to become a recognised and influential Kiwi artist.”
"Grace is an extraordinary Art student who has talents in many areas. She has consistently performed at a high level and she is a wonderful and worthy person." - Anna Heinz, Head of Department ART.
Grace is a youth volunteer, ambassador and creative educator. An amazing artist who has led multiple Art Workshops - all adored by the younger participants.
She will hugely benefit from RISD. It will unleash her artistic potential, positively impact the community and be a step to becoming a recognised and influential kiwi artist.
