Gillian versus Breast Cancer

  • Snip snip time!

      24 May 2015

Due to a bad ear infection and lengthy recovery, surgery has now been bumped up the list - 19 June to be exact! Mastectomy on the left one (reconstruction will be over a year away) and removal of the 4 glands, in hospital for 2 nights then home. Estimated 4 weeks out of action at this stage. Then back to Chemo. By then the ear will be well and truly sorted and no more risk of it spreading to other places. Good luck to Gill, and her surgeons!

  • Two Chemo's done! Another just around the corner.

      26 April 2015

Well, the first chemo was a major dose to stop things in it's track...it also made Gill's hair fall out. A bit of a surprise, wasn't expecting that until a few rounds later. But she's rocking the hats, and looks great. She also had a stint in hospital as her white blood cell count was almost zilch, which means very susceptible to infections, which we totally do not want! A few days rest in hospital and some magic boosters and she was good to go - just in time for school holidays.

First Friday of school holidays was second chemo - and Gill took Gemma and Anasii along to see what it's all about. She also got her results and the tumor had shrunk by 1.5cm!! This round was quite uneventful, thankfully. Chemo side effects, but no trips to hospital or the like.

Round three is this coming this Friday, so fingers crossed for more good results. Way to go sis!!

  • 25Mar: Bone Scan

      26 March 2015

Good news today, I have just found out that my BONE SCAN IS CLEAR !!! Lungs have also been cleared. So the main tumour and 4 small ones in the lymph nodes. If I had enough energy I would have done a dance, but I think I smiled for over an hour :)

  • 24Feb:CT scan results

      26 March 2015

Today's test results are good ones. My CT or tissue scan shows no obvious cancer elsewhere (smile emoticon), also my receptors two are positive and Her2 negative. This means they can give me some extra drugs with my Chemo to help get a better result.

  • The beginning...

      26 March 2015

I have grade 3 Breast cancer and this has gone to my glands. I feel well no symptoms apart from the lump. The lump is 8cm by 8cm.

I have a CT scan tomorrow to see if it has gone anywhere else. I then will have a bone scan to check them too. I get more results on Tuesday, hopefully the CT results too. Once these scan results are back I will go to an Oncologist to get started on Chemo. I will have 6 rounds each 3 weeks apart. So in 5 months (ish) the plan is to have surgery to take it all out.
