Making food more convenient for those in need during the holiday season

Hamilton, Waikato

My husband and I would like to provide as many grocery gift cards as possible to those in need this Christmas.

Recently we have been providing food to some Hamilton homeless individuals standing outside our local Countdown. Talking to one particular individual they expressed that they needed food, but it was difficult to lug it around throughout the day and had concerns of it going bad. It then came to us while in the shop that the gift card for Countdown was a great option as it was easy to carry, easy to use, they can select their own items of choice, and it could be used when needed. The individual at the time was so happy with this option which made us realize it would be great to be able to give many of these out for Christmas.

We will be selecting the recipients at random throughout Hamilton City. The basis for being selected will be individuals who are asking for food from those passing them by. We will purchase the gift cards from Local grocery stores, Countdown, Pak n Save, and New World. My family and I will be personally distributing each gift card in an envelope.

We would appreciate any donation you make to help us giving back this season to those in need.
