Give a little, Help a lot - Help an amazing family

On the 1st of March 2020 this family's life changed drastically. Tina (Mum) was involved in a freak accident, this accident saw paramedics rushing to her side and then a helicopter ride to the hospital. Sadly Tina's back was badly broken, she had surgery but the damage was irreversible. Tina is now paralyzed on the bottom half of her body. This has been a huge life changing event not just for Tina but for her close knit family here in NZ. Her daughters and son in law have been going above and beyond to make sure their mum is as happy and comfortable as possible. It was a huge relief for the family to have Tina return home once lock down was over and Tina had done her rehab work in the spinal unit.

Just as life started to simmer down and seem a little 'normal' another complete freak accident hit the family, Tina went to Middlemore via ambulance for what we thought was a blocked catheter. They took her straight into Resus and 7 minutes later she died right in front of her family's eyes. She had a massive pulmonary embolism and her heart was stopped for a total of 30 minutes. The family was told to say their final goodbyes to their beloved mum...

But Tina is a fighter and she refused to go down without a fight. The next morning she was extubated and told her family she loves them and that she could hear everything they said to her while she was intubated and on the ventilator. Tina is still not out of the woods and she is still very sick but she’s alive and she’s beaten the odds to even get this far.

I asked this family if I could start this page to help them out a little, their response blew me away 'there are more people that need help' within that moment of such a selfless gesture I knew I needed to do this, and help them as much as I can as they truly deserve it but would have never asked.

The hope for this page is to help raise funds to contribute to anything they may need, whether it is in the form of medical bills, household bills, transportation costs, renovation costs, rent and anything that might take a little weight off their shoulders. If we all give a little we will all help a lot.
