Diagnosed with life threatening invasive Strep A and toxic shock from medical negligence

$17,600 donated
Given by 235 generous donors in 5 weeks

Jacs’ best friends mission is to get her back doing what she loves without the worry of sudden financial burden-we need help to get there.

Wellington

After a series of medical misadventures at Wellington Hospital, Jacs has fought for her life in ICU. We are reaching out to anyone who reads this story to help. Your support during this incredibly tough time will really make a difference-every little bit helps.

Still in a delicate condition; using her strength to survive this ordeal, Jacs faces a long journey to recovery. Last thing we want is her worrying about how to support her children while out of work through no fault of her own (3-6 mth min).

Well known in the wedding industry as a Makeup Artist/Hair Stylist, Jacs runs her own business at Glamroom. She has a magical way of making people feel confident. Her beautiful heart is always there when we need safe space. It’s our turn to return her generosity during this difficult time.

What should have been a simple procedure, turned into a nightmare from hospital staff negligence. On 1 Feb, Jacs a bubbly, loving, wonder-woman, was rushed to hospital in toxic shock after routine injection. She had surgery 2 Feb to remove poison & hospital forgot to give her blood thinners, causing blood clots in lungs and legs. On 8 Feb, she vomited blood; her family voiced concerns to med staff & were ignored, leading to another emergency surgery for bleeding artery, causing more complications.

Three medical misadventures led to Jacqui nearly losing her life. It's no secret that NZ’s health system needs attention; this could have been avoided. ACC proving difficult. Please share this story.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. HDC's apologies and reviews are meaningless - they basically left my stepmother to die in Middlemore and only revived her when I told them I would have them for murder. She lived another year. The 'apology' that came 2 years later was pretty much offensive at that point. Stay strong and get well, your children deserve to have you home and healthy!
