    Hi everyone,

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has donated to James in the past. We are so grateful for your help; it has made things easier on him.

We haven’t given you an update for a while, so just letting you all know that we've created a FB page to post updates on Jim's journey and we are also promoting the latest fundraising effort for him on there.

This time we have launched an online fundraising auction where all the profits go to James and his fiancé Tasmin to help with day-to-day costs so they can focus on fighting the cancer. https:///www.facebook.com/itstimetoshoutjames

I’ve got some amazing kiwi companies who have donated to this, and we have currently 60 listings! Plus, you can also donate to James or to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ if you wish. We have also committed to donating a portion of the profits to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand, a charity very close to our hearts.

We invite you to view the auction and be a part of our social media pages.

    https://www.facebook.com/itstimetoshoutjames

Again, we thank you for your support and we hope we can see you on our socials.

    Thanks,

    Emma (Jim’s big cousin)

    Kia ora team!

Picking up from where I left off with my last update.

My new immune system had dropped down to 54%. This was quite a concern as there was, and still is the risk of losing the German girls engraphtment altogether! Gee wizz I tell you now I don't want another one haha 😅 However my counts started to climb going to 58% then up to 63%. 💪

Following this good news the plan was to have more chemo! 6 more doses of brentuximab in a way to relieve the new immune system from the pressure of fighting the cancer aswel as fighting my old immune system. The boost in the % made my consultant comfortable to start this chemo. The course will take us right through to December!!

Recovery from the transplant is slow I'm not gonna lie! I reluctantly get out everyday with the motivation provided by Tasmin, my partner 😂 haha. I am getting stronger and more capable but the chemo has turned out to be more of a hurdle than I had anticipated! It will get done and as usual with a smile 😊

To all my supporters! It's been a long time but we can nearly see the day tas and I don't have to regularly go to the hospital. I'm very slowly gaining back some things this cancer has taken from me!

    Chur Jim 🤙

  • Support Jimmy ❤️

      20 August 2020

    Hi everyone!

Our Jimmy's treatment has been extended well beyond the roughly estimated, hopeful end to his treatment.

We hope to raise some money to support him with his further treatment as he's still unable to work due to the ongoing chemotherapy.

We will post an update shortly following this so we can update you on Jimmy's current situation 😊

He's continuing to fight the good fight and landing some real good punches recently so we want him to keep up the fantastic work he's done so he can get back to a "normal" life.

He's so grateful to everyone that's been involved in donating and sending kind words thank you all so much ❤️ Lucie - James's sister

    RIGHT! I have great news!

I'm a tad behind the 8 ball here but yesterday those neutrophils went up to 0.1and today are 0.2! This means the new stem cells have engraphted and are producing all the cells I need to stay alive!

I have to say I'm surprised and overjoyed at this experience thus far. My last stem cell transplant really had me thinking about the taste of a kumara when you suck on it too hard!

Honestly, this hasn't been without its moments of illness but nothing compared to what I've done already, the lock down also had its challenges but they were overcome with the support I have from Tasmin and family.

It's looking as though I'll be able to get out of here potentially over the weekend, as I've learnt however take things as they come so I'm not holding it to anyone 😂

The goof is my pooch Quinn, I've missed her so much ❤️

So so good to read this James, always send your updates through to our Elim church prayer chain so you are prayed for several times a week by a very large number of dedicated caring people of all ages. Hope you get home soon. Very surreal time we are living in just now. You are really Blessed with a wonderful partner and supportive family and Quinn of course.

Keep positive and look after your immune system.

  • Update from hospital

      29 March 2020

Over the last few days in hospital James has received chemo to kill his bone marrow and he has also been given immunosuppressive drugs to aid in reducing his chances of getting graft vs host disease (GVHD) this is where the new immune system can reject James. GVHD can be very serious so the immunosuppressive drugs help make the new stem cells “drunk”, so that they don’t realise they have been taken out and put into a new body! James tolerated the chemo okay, he definitely felt pretty crappy!

Tasmin is in lockdown with James and is only allowed to see James to reduce his risk of getting any infections.

Debbie and Simon have been amazing with providing food for James and Tasmin as the hospital food at the moment is awful! Poor James! They are also looking the fur baby Quinn!

On Wednesday the 26th James received his new stem cells all the way from Germany. We are forever thankful to the lady in German that donated her cells to James.

Even though James is in hospital he still needs to be exercising to help stop the deterioration of his muscles from spending his days in bed! Currently he is riding 2km every morning (if he doesn’t feel to bad)

Over the next few weeks and months the new cells will engraft into his bones and start making their home and producing new red blood cells and white blood cells. This will take up to 3 weeks and over that time James will be very sick as he has no protection from all the germs! ❤️

  • Admitted for Donor Stem Cell Transplant

      24 March 2020
    Main image

    Hi everyone!

James was admitted to hospital for his donor stem cell transplant on Sunday night for 4 - 5 weeks.

Tasmin is in isolation with him in hospital. We have the Wellington teamies dropping things off to hospital and doing washing and looking after Quinn for them. He won't be allowed any visitors obviously due to the covid - 19 spreading.

He is doing well and is in the best place possible thank goodness ❤️

Tas has taken photos into hospital to put on the wall so thought I'd post an update of their room for the next four weeks 😁

Love to you all and keep safe

  • Update from James - Thank you for being patient ❤️

      11 March 2020

So guys update time, you’ve all been so patient!

To date I’ve had 5 of my glorious Brentuximab treatments, this drug has made my cancers growth very difficult, meaning it was not detected on that PET scan I had a few weeks back. This is a very good sign. Some of you may not know that chemo isn’t a cure in my case. I need all these stem cell transplants to create an immune system that recognises my cancers cells and then kindly removes them from squatting.... without getting technical of course.

On the 18th of March I will start my chemo regime which is 8 days long 😬 this is aimed at ridding my body of its blood factory (bone marrow), following this ball of a time I receive my new stem cells collected from someone somewhere (thank you to them, whoever you are ❤️). I am expected to be in hospital for about a month if everything goes well. Don’t all swarm the ward either! I’m not allowed any visitors 😑😂

All jokes aside, this is going to be hell in a hospital. The last stem cell transplant had me on the ropes and I don’t know how I’m suppose to do this one. The finish line in the beginning was 6 months, it’s been 2 years now and I’m likely to be another year before I’m back into ‘life’.

Following that! I don’t know how to word my gratitude and thanks to those who have supported me for so long, all you friends and friends of friends mean so much to me. Thank you ❤️

There are so many outstanding people in my life but one person is sure to be publicly recognised. Tasmin has stood by my fragile arse this whole time. My mind/body is shit these days due to chemo and stress so she

Has taken all my responsibilities and made them as simple and easy as she can make them for me. This experience has been made a million times easier because of her. I can not say how much you help. ❤️

This is Jim’s situation, you’re all filled in, thank you for reading about my life right now 😂🤘✌️

  • New update from our Jimmy

      1 February 2020

    Hey team!

I’m sorry I haven’t posted up any updates in a long time, the last few months have been interesting to say the least.

So far I’ve had 3 of my treatments of that fancy chemo, I must say I wish I had have been given it at the start! It makes me a little bit tired for a few days then I’m back into my “normal” day to day life 😂

I had a PET scan on Tuesday the 28th of jan which we will have the results on the 4th of feb so tune in as I’ll post the results shortly after that!

All going to plan the cancer will be undetectable on that PET and I’ll have a forth dose of my fav chemo so far on the 7th of feb 😎

Stem cells will be starting 3 weeks after that, this I believe and have been told will be difficult to say the least. Mentally this is worrying me (naturally) the most buuut there’s a silver lining to every shit storm ⛈ this being all the love and support I’m getting from my family and friends, opening up to people and talking about these feelings is new and challenging but overall binding me to people. Thank you fam ❤️

Lastly I’d like to thank you all for the support big or small, donations to a message and patience with me not messaging back 😂 truely this situation has exposed good in many places i didn’t even see before.

Live life and don’t worry too much 🤙🏼

      23 November 2019

    Hi everyone!

just a quick post to let you know that James’s funding has been approved for his treatment. I know you will all be as relieved as James is to know that this part of his journey is no longer a burden to him and his partner Tasmin. There are still a few massive hurdles for James to scale but this really does allow his shoulders to relax a little. Thank you to everyone that has donated the fight is only beginning and we all (his family) appreciate the out pouring of support and love for him. James will post an update as soon as he is able, much Aroha Karen (aka Mum)

  • Finally some actual news 🙌

      14 November 2019

    Hey Teamies,

In Tuesday James had a meeting with his hemotologist and after a long, agonizing wait for some news he Finally has some regarding what is next for him.

From December this year he will be receiving a drug called Brentuximab Ventodin. This drug is basically the only next step for James at this stage. It is an anti-body drug that is specifically targeted against positive cancer cells such as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which is what James is dealing with right now.

He will be starting on 1 dose of Brentuximab via drip for one day every 3 weeks for 3 cycles so 9 weeks in total.

Then comes a PET scan to see if he has responded to the drug.

And so the cycle repeats for up to 16 doses.

The goal is for James to be in complete remission and then they can go ahead and give him a donated stem cell transplant as they have already tried his own stem cells and they weren't unfortunately able to fight the good fight.

The donated stem cells will then (with all of our fingers crossed) become his new immune system to fight off any further cancers.

The donated stem cell will come from myself - if I am a match) and if I am not they will go to Germany for a donor.

James is still waiting to find out if the drug company will fund this drug on compassionate grounds. We hope to find out the answer to this as soon as possible. James and our family remain ever optimistic that they will fund this drug but there is still the reality of "what if they don't?". To put it into perspective, only 2 other people from wellington have been funded for Brentuximab.

    Brentuximab costs $40,000 per dose.

    $40,000 x 3 cycles is $120,000.

    James definitely needs 6 doses = $240,000.

The hemotologist has said that if he gets funded for 16 doses they will use all 16 as it would ensure the Hodgkins was completely gone = $640,000.

Like I have said, we are all remaining hopeful that at least 6 of these will be funded but I will update you all regarding this asap.

On top of all this, James has been told by his Doctor that he will not be able to work for another 2 years. This in itself is difficult for him because as we all know, he loves his job so much and at such a young age this has been a huge set back.

We all, from the bottom of our hearts want to thank everyone that has donated money to james, it has taken a huge weight off his shoulders meaning he can concentrate on getting better and keeping himself as healthy as possible.

As you can all imagine, this has been a lot for James to process and deal with. Please, don't be offended if he doesn't respond to your messages or calls, he appreciates all of your support and encouragement but he's understandably exhausted and physically in pain. He will certainly make up for lost time when he has recovered.

He loves you all and big ups to all the boys doing Movember - you guys absolutely rock!

There really are no words to describe exactly how much all you are appreciated and I know that if he could, he would thank you each personally.

James - you are an absolute superman. We all have your back 110%. Keep up your amazing attitude to life and your awesome sense of humor 💙💙💙💙💙

    💇🏻‍♂️Chop the MOp👨🏻

As some of you’ll know, Movember is a cause very close and dear to my heart. This year has a twist alongside it with “chopping of the MOp”.

2 years its taken to grow these Brad Pitt from Troy like luscious locks and battle the hairbrush each day.. However, my great mate James Depree has been battling something greater for 2 years - Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

This year I’ll be looking to donate all Movember and chop the MOp proceeds towards James’ treatment which currently is estimated @ $40,000 a treatment .. (he needs 3-4 of them).

The goal is to reach over $1000 by the end of Movember but obviously any form of donation is going to really benefit James and his family.

To create a laugh, the best donation will get to choose the haircut of their choice which I’ll sport for 48hours (there’ll be a live video with proof of this) ..

    - Mullet

    - Rat tail

    - The Donald trump

    - The Landing strip

    - The Kim Jong un

It’ll get cut and rocked for 48 hours (This has the approval of Ashleigh Young so we’ve got the green light 😂).

(Disclaimer: no peroxide or skin heads 😂).

Go over to the link down below, comment “Chop the MOp” and look to give a little to one hell of a bloke who deserves every chance at living his best life and with his health fully intact.

As some of you may know a good mate of mine James Depree has been battling cancer for far too long.

Thought the least I could do was jump head first into Movember and see not IF but HOW much facial hair I can grow. Should be a pretty successful task!

In honour of this too be success, I'd really appreciate it if you could head over to James's Give A Little page and help support such great guy. Link below

    Hi all!

It’s day 4 of Movember and we are trying to raise awareness, grow some hair and build some funds for James Depree. Jim has been battling stage 4 hodgkin lymphoma and has been through various treatments to try kick this in the butt. He has shown immense perseverance and indomitable spirit throughout this process and now needs a very special, meaning very expensive ($40,000 per treatment and he may need up to 4) and very taxing both mentally and physically, treatment.

This guy is giving, caring, talented and just bloody awesome and the people around him have been there to support him wherever possible. Korda and I are going to grow a mo and post some updates to spread the word and grow the supportive community around james. Follow the link below to go straight to james’ give a little page and please spread this message, other messages from his friends and family and his give a little page with your friends, family and colleagues.

    We love you mate!!

    Alrighty Team,

My brother's mate James Depree is battling something that has touched us all in one form or another. He's currently raising funds for his treatment of Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma, if you could so kind as to donate and/or share this link it'd be greatly appreciated. Neville Love and his mates are doing "Grow the mo for the the bro" so given that they're all only able to grow pre-pubescent fluff on their upper lip it'd be great to rally some support. James is a good sort and would do the same for you!

Here's the link below, every little bit counts!

Day 7 and we have growth.. thank you to everyone who has been kindly donating to the bro’s James Depree cause.. off current estimation you kind folk have donated $250... only $750 to go.

Currently the leading bid for chop the MOp sits @ $80... however, with no name attached, this hasn’t been claimed.. leaving I believe Luke Parker in the lead (please don’t let this guy decide my hairs fate 😂😂).

    Kia ora fam,

Me and a few of the boys from work (Phuong, Arne) are participating in Movember to raise awareness for mens mental health. This is something that affects everyone (not only men) in one way or another.

This is an incredible initiative and the funds raised will go along way to supporting those who are struggling. I'll do my absolute best to grow a cheeky top lip slug but this is about helping those in need.

I'd like to take this opportunity however to raise awareness for someone close to me who is fighting a different battle. My incredible mate James Depree is going through a rollercoaster ride as he is battling stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. He's an absolute legend and has stayed strong as an ox since the beginning.

The treatments he has coming up are not cheap, so there's a Givealittle page cranking away which would mean the absolute world if you could all have a look at and flick some support his way.

    Really appreciate it team <3

There’s a bunch a blokes out there who are growing mo’s for bro’s, my bro’s are growing them for me. I’ve never been the recipient of this kind of gesture and to be honest I don’t know how to thank you all. The matter of raising money is important but in my mind irrelevant to the cause, these men are showing men that pain and hardship is there and it’s to be worn externally and shared.

Thank you boys, you’re really helping me mentally and physically. ❤️

    Kia Ora Whanau,

It’s taken me a while now to accept a challenge I never wanted to accept.

This outcome was on the table and a reality that I had to consider but I chose not too.

As we all know this is hard, it’s scary, it’s unfair and now, seemingly an impossible task.

I will be honest I am terrified.

This being said I have never had a time in my life where so many people have come to help me.

This experience, if you could call it that, has shown me how many people are in my life!spending time with me, sharing a thought for me and donating your money to me.

It’s amazing how bad something can be but at the same time be so good.

It’s brings me hope and a smile.

I am so humbled and proud to be in your lives.

Thank you all for your continued support, it will not be wasted or taken for granted.

Hi everyone this is my son James he's been battling this thing called Hodgkins Lymphoma for the last two years and now we have just had news that it hasn't gone away. More biopsys more blood test more of everything just when he thought he could start to live again - the whole world is turning and he is standing still waiting......I am sharing this post today because we need a miricle and that is going to potentially cost way more than any one of us can put our hands in our pockets in pull out. If you can we would be eternally grateful for any donation you can afford. If you can't please just share this so James has a chance at rebuilding his life and future... xox Thank you

  • Bad news for our Jim

James and family had a meeting with the Oncologist on the 2nd of September. We all expected him to be given the all clear. Instead the Oncologist told us that his PET scan showed a return of his cancer. He now has signs of it in his liver stomach and neck.

The course ahead is not clear. The Oncologist has said that options are very restricted. James will need blood tests and a match from close family will need to be found for bone marrow or stem cell transplants. There is to be a meeting on Thursday of Blood and Oncology specialists to determine the best way forward.

In Tuesday's meeting, it was suggested there were two possible options, both expensive and both not funded. We will try an appeal on compassionate grounds to the the drug company and to Pharmac.

This news has absolutely floored all of us as we thought he was getting better. James is the best Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandson, Friend, Cousin, Partner, Nephew and Person anyone could ever know. All of us are privileged and honoured to be able to say we know him, but he needs our help.

James has never asked for anything for himself so we need to ask on his behalf

    Hey team

I thought I'd let you all know where I'm at, as there's many of you out there who have shown more than just an interest in my journey ❤️.

I've just finished my 6 days of chemotherapy to rid me of my old bone marrow 👌. I will have my stem cells given back to me tomorrow, they were 'harvested' a few weeks back and will make there way back into my bones and grow me a brand new blood factory 👍 in the hope that it'll keep this situation from happening again!

I do want to say again a really big thank you to everyone who has shared a kind word, message or even their hard earned money to support me. It really grounds me. Its shown me the good in people and gives me a hell of alot of motivation ❤️ thank you all again 🤙
