Give Marianne a chance.
Whitianga, Waikato
Marianne Warwood (nee Menzies) lives in the Coroglen with husband David and children of ages 16 years and 17 years. She is Mother to Drew and Grandmother to Drew's beautiful children. Marianne has been fighting Stage 4 Metastasized Ovarian Cancer, forever hopeful that she will kick this with the aid of the government funded chemotherapies. Marianne's condition has unfortunately progressed. The chemotherapy treatment ending in September 2023 did not reduce the tumors and further cancerous growth has occurred, the news she was not expecting to hear. She has been given three months to live (until January 2024) unless she can fund a non government funded treatment to fight her aggressive cancer. Marianne is desperate to witness her son finish school and take up his passion of digital design at university, and to see her only daughter, her youngest child grow up and leave school also. To give Marianne this chance we need your help to fund the $57,957.18 shortfall. Marianne requires a minimum of 6 sessions at $5700 each. The treatment is broken down as follows:
Bevacizumab (non- Pharmac funded but Medsafe approved Antibody-Based Immunotherapy), Bevacizumab $27,627.14
Facility Fee $13,000.06
Equipment Fee $2,999.89
Admin, nursing and on call fee $9,299.90
Other Medications and consumables $2,999.89
Miscellaneous + Dispensing $2,030.30
Total Cost Estimate (inc GST) $57,957.18
This estimate does not include CT or MRI scanning, PICC or Portacath insertion and removal, Oncology consultations.
Marianne is a loyal friend of over 35 years. We trained together, flatted, partied, eventually morphed in to responsible human beings and shared the same values when we had our own children.
Contributions will be spent on individual non government funded treatments (Bevacizumab), according to what the funding pool allows.
Final update 18 September 2024
Hi all,
Its been a rough three months since Marianne passed however we are also thank-full for the quality extension to her life the give-a-little funds enabled. Marianne's husband and children are coping the best they can. When I do get up to the Coromandel it has been for quick weekend trips, to visit Marianne's grave at Ferry Landing and for supporting Marianne's family. I am happy to catch up with any of you if you sing out as each donation no matter how small made a massive impact: dual.functions@xtra.co.nz
