Special Olympics Hibiscus Coast are fundraising to send our team of 27 athletes & support people to the National Summer Games in Nov/Dec
Auckland
Special Olympics Hibiscus Coast was founded in 2009 in order to address the growing needs of athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the greater Rodney area. Currently, the athletes in our club are absorbing most of the costs for training and competitions, but we are hoping to send a team of 27 equestrian, ten pin bowling and aquatic athletes and their support people to the National Summer Games at the end of the year. Those who participate in this sort of event benefit tremendously from the experience. It offers them the opportunity to feel a sense of personal achievement in an environment where they are valued and accepted. It is exciting to see our athletes advance to the level required to be able to participate in a national competition. In order to accomplish our goal, we need to raise over $26,000 through all of our fundraising efforts. Please check our Gallery for more photos of our athletes.
We are the executive committee of Special Olympics Hibiscus Coast. Most of us are parents of Special Olympics athletes.
