Giving Back to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) & Childrens' Ward, Dunedin Hospital

$400 of $1,000 goal
Given by 15 generous donors in 8 weeks

I want to give back so that these wonderful doctors and nurses can continue to help families like mine.

Otago

I was born at 30 weeks weighing 2lb 10oz. I spent 69 days in NICU. I had respiratory problems and was born with chronic lung disease, I am now left with asthma. I also spent the first five years of my life in and out of hospital with respiratory problems.

I have been behind in my milestones compared to other children but I am a believer, a fighter and am grateful for the opportunities life brings me. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Without the help of the medical staff in NICU and the Children's Unit I would not be here. My parents tell me I'm a miracle but so are my siblings who took this long journey with us.

I want to visit the NICU and Childrens' Unit on my 13th birthday to give them a cheque for my fundraising efforts and to take them a cake to celebrate my life and milestones but most importantly to say thanks to them in person and to show them how far I have come in all these years.

Not only through this page but I will be doing some challenges along the way to fundraise further funds and we have set a goal by my 13th birthday (18 April) to raise $1,000 so that both NICU and the Children's Unit can continue the amazing work they do tirelessly and with such commitment, expertise and passion daily.

So keep an eye on my update page so you can see what I have been up to along the way.

Andrew and Debbie Sinclair's involvement (page creator)

I was a neonatal baby 13 years ago and I want to give back to the Intensive Care Unit that saved my life. I was also in and out of the Childrens' Unit for the first five years of my life with respiratory issues and cared for me when I was very unwell.

Use of funds

The funds are to be divided equally between the NICU and Children's Unit to be used as they see fit whether it be towards research, medical equipment or future training.
