Nicky and Bob are rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for frontline heroes and heroines rehabilitating from injury.
International
Nicky and Bob are rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to raise the profile of their chosen charity, Pilgrim Bandits (NZ), and to generate funds in support of our frontline heroes and heroines. Our voyage will take two months or more; will require at least 1.5 million oar strokes; and will see us battling huge waves as we travel from the Canary Islands to Antigua. Thank you for being a part of our campaign team!
The Glimmering Sea Trust has been established to help Nicky and Bob row the Atlantic Ocean for the purpose of raising the profile of Pilgrim Bandits, a charity that supports heroes and heroines who are struggling to overcome injuries and post-traumatic stress consequent of their frontline service.
Funds will be used for procurement of the boat, food, survival equipment, navigation aids, etc. On completion of the Atlantic Challenge, all assets will be liquidised and residual funds will be donated to the Pilgrim Bandits charity.
We're training! 16 September 2024
Finally we've been out onto the North Sea, aiming to complete the mandatory qualifying days as soon as possible. It's been quite an effort to get to this point, and our heartfelt thanks go out to all our generous donors. The boat is great, and experience thus far has shown that we are far more fragile that she is. Motion sickness is a huge challenge, but this really is a case of simply sucking up the discomfort and getting on with it. The DONALD HAILEY ships to the start line late October or early November... and we won't be far behind. Onwards!
