Help Kickstart a Dream - One Pair of Boots at a Time
Briar and I are two New Zealanders supporting a great initiative.
We’re raising funds to support a brand-new girls’ football team from Maceió, Alagoas, as they gear up to represent their community in the inaugural Copa Rainha Marta - a new women’s tournament celebrating the next generation of female talent in Brazil.
Named after Marta Vieira da Silva - a legend of the game and a proud daughter of Alagoas - the tournament is goes beyond just football, giving young girls the chance to lead, compete, and shine on and off the pitch.
Our goal is to provide 18 pairs of football boots for the girls selected to play.
This is part of a wider effort to grow the Elas Jogam movement by taking it into schools - creating pathways for girls to access football, mentorship, and leadership across Maceió.
With your support, we can help level the playing field and open the door to something bigger.
We’re aiming to buy 18 pairs of women’s football boots.
Each pair costs approximately R$250, bringing our total fundraising goal to around R$4,500 ($1500NZD)
Direct donation 5 July 2025
The goal has been updated as Jack has made the rest of his donation directly while in Brazil (to avoid fees) - so the target represents the remaining 50% sought to reach $750. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!
