Going for Gold at the U19 World Rowing Champs

Bede comes from a small rural community in the Foothills of Mid Canterbury. He attended Mt Somers Springburn School from 2012 - 2019 and St Bede’s College from 2020 - 2024. He has developed into a young man who is making his dreams become a reality and exhibits committment, perserverance and leadership.

Bede has been selected for the New Zealand Under 19 Rowing Team to compete at the 2025 World Rowing Under 19 Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. The trialists underwent a rigorous selection process, including seat racing—where rowers are rotated between boats to determine the best rowers. At the conclusion of the trials, Bede earned his place in the Men’s Under 19 eight for the 2025 World Championships at Trakai, Lithuania.

Competing at this level comes with significant costs, as High Performance Sport New Zealand has withdrawn financial support for the Junior Rowing Programme. Alongside full-time training and work, Bede must raise $21,000 to cover his expenses.
