I am running a 102km race for Ukrainians who are still fighting for their lives, their homes, their future. I run for Ukraine.
Auckland
My name is Diana and I am a proud Ukrainian. Almost two years ago, on 24th February 2022, Russia invaded my homeland.
On 17th February I will be running the Tarawera 102km race in New Zealand in solidarity for all Ukrainians still suffering.
The war has caused immense devastation and human cost in Ukraine. Over 100,000 Ukrainians have lost their lives, including many children. Nearly a third of the country’s population has been displaced, including my own family and friends, and millions more are living under constant threat. The war has caused much destruction but it has not wilted our spirit.
Although the focus of the world’s media has moved on, the war continues. Ukraine needs your help and solidarity more than ever. That is why I have decided to run 102km and dedicate my run to Ukraine. I will fundraise, raise awareness, and showcase Ukrainian resilience and determination. I will run for the people who have lost their lives, their homes, their families, and their freedom. I will run for the people who are still fighting for their future. I will run for Ukraine.
