Grace needs new wheels

Our daughter Grace is 9 yrs old & the youngest of our 3 girls. She was born with a neurological disorder called Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome. This condition affects her muscles & how they work, meaning simple tasks such as standing up unaided, walking for extended periods or taking part in PE at school are very difficult for her-particularly as she fatigues quickly.

At age 2 she was given a pink plastic trike & it gave her wings. She was able to roll around the house & garden, keeping up with her sisters, giving her some independence from mum & dad. As she has grown, we used 'off the shelf' trikes helping her maintain some of that independence, but as she is almost 10, she really needs an upgrade to something that is more suited to her, her condition & that can grow with her-especially as it is an extension of her!

She loves being outside with friends at school & her current trike has given her some of that freedom that most 9 year olds take for granted, particularly during PE & in the playground. Having a trike has given her so much more than just the ride but she desperately needs an upgrade.

We have found that upgrade in a trike that will suit Grace, but as with most things that are specialised, it has a hefty price tag. The trike is a running frame called the Petra RaceRunner & is perfect for Grace & her needs, but costs $11,500
