Grandmother attacked while working as an essential worker.

$3,260 of $50,000 goal
Given by 68 generous donors in one year

We wish to help our grandmother raise funds for house modifications she needs to make her life a little bit easier after being attacked.

Canterbury

My 66 year old Taua (Grandmother) was attacked and beaten while working as an essential worker at a BP petrol station in Christchurch during level 3 of the nationwide lockdown. She had just come off her break to a disturbance in the shop where a 20 year old male was rampaging through the store. Once he was asked to leave he proceeded to jump over the food warmers, knock her down and physically attack her until a member of the public was able to intervene.

These acts of violence has taken away my Taua's independence-by no choice of her own. A lady who was once living life to the fullest, working hard to build her dreams of home renovations and travelling and socializing every chance that she could is now fearful to venture passed her gates alone, cant drive, is unable to work and is emotionally drained.

Even with the opportunity to retire, my Taua decided to continue working in order to enable renovations and modifications to her home so that she could relax come the end of the year. As you could imagine she has now been left with the physical, mental and emotional imprints of the events that took place that night. With bruising to her body and face, a small bleed to the brain and body parts requiring physiotherapy on a weekly basis she has been left unable to work and fulfill her dreams of renovating her home before retiring at the end of the year.

Although this will not help gain back her independence, or take away the pain and suffering it has caused We have set this Give-A-Little page up in hopes to assist our Taua with the funds for a new garage with Automatic doors and a Deck to go outside, both things she was actively working towards purchasing to make her life a little easier prior to this.

Quotes to come.

Edit: Wow! Thank you so much to every one of you for your generous and kind donations, I have read every comment to Taua and she has broken down in tears-Twice today from everyone’s thoughts And kindness for her. It goes to show her purity. She would literally give her last dollar to those in need, and never expected people would do the same for her. So thank you! From the bottom of our hearts.
