Raise some funds to support my mother during her Cancer Treatment and grant a wish or two on her Wish List of things she'd love to do.
Gisborne
Hello. My name is Soraya and I am trying to raise some funds to bring a bit of joy for my mum Clarisse who has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Mum will be undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Gisborne very soon. We do know at this stage unfortunately the Cancer can not be removed as it is wrapped around an artery. We remain optimistic and positive about the road ahead.
My mum Clarisse is the most beautiful person in the world to me and I am proud to call her my best friend. She is an incredibly hard working, genuine, down to earth, loving lady who gives so much to all those around her. My mum has helped a lot of people, particularly elderly people in her community and pretty much anywhere she goes; if she sees someone struggling she is the first to get up and lend a hand. My mum has given a lot of time to the people of Whatuwhiwhi and Peria always willing to help out at both Haiti-tai-marangai Marae and Kauhanga Marae in times of need. If there was a potato to peel, a pot to scrub or a cake to bake and people to feed mum was there.
Mum has supported and lovingly cared for my father Matiu who has serious illnesses of his own, getting him through some big health scares in the past and making sure he looks after himself.
Mum has supported me through bad bouts of depression and hard times. She is an endless source of love, kindness and support to our entire family.
My mum has modest wishes -she's never asked for much if anything, she hasn't had a real holiday in over 10 years, she's never pampered herself and she always put others first. I'd love to see her have some fun, get some love and care and spoil herself a little -just for once! I want to raise any funds I can to help my parents during this time, and so mum can complete a few wishes on her Wish List - modest wishes like see the Topp Twins live if they visit Gisborne, go on a short cruise or a scenic train trip here in NZ, visit my husband and I in Wellington and spend time with my brother and his wife and kids in Auckland.
Mum has had to immediately stop working but my dad continues to work full time at the age of 70 while juggling being her primary caregiver. As a family we are all helping as much as possible, visiting and being supportive to them both during this time. I just want financial stress to take a backseat as much as possible for them both through her treatment as it will impact my dad's ability to work as much as he was, and I want them to spend some quality time together.
Most importantly I would love my mum to tick off even just one of her wishes.
Thank you sincerely from our whanau for your support.
Soraya.
My mum is the most beautiful person and I am proud to call her my best friend. Mum has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and I just want to help her and my dad in anyway I can. Your support means so much to us x Thank you
It will help my parents immensely and would mean my dad can work a little less so he can focus on being with mum throughout her treatment, and ease the financial stress a little. My main goal is for mum to have a few, even just one of her wishes granted.
