Nationwide
Hi on behalf of Grant and myself and Thomas we would like to thank all who have Donated, so far, Imediatly following the Crash Grants Injuries did seem to be minor however once on the Nelson rescue Helicopter things had chanaged for him the Paramedics were unable to stablise him sufficently enough so he was given liquard pain releif and told to grit his teeth for the flight.
Grants condition did deterriate the following day during Surgery which should have only taken 2 hours to repair his double fractured LT femour he arrested twice needing defibulising making it a 6 hours on the operating table, Also the Surgen found he had broken more Ribs that first thought and had punchered his LT lung he was put on a respirator for the next 4 days.
After our return to Wairau hospital here in Marlborough, some concern was noted that Grants Red Blood cells had begun to distroy themselfs and his Liver had started to loose his function, He is now under a medical specialist as well as an orthopeadic specialist and has to have scans on his liver also for Blood clots, He is Home with me and requires 24 care, including tolieting showering etc, as a Registered Nurse I am more than happy to care for my wonderful husband souel mate and father.. I have given up my job to care for Grant something I have never hesertated to do, Finanicaly we are coping but Grant wont be back operating his small one man band general cartage , earthworks bussness this side of Xmas and of course with the loss of ZK-HON the income from her is also gone, No we didnt have income protection insurance as when we started Cloudy Bay Helicopters we were refused Insurance cover from 6 different companies as Rotor Pilots are deemed to high risk.
His Pain and muscular spasims are hard to control, It is going to be a long road to recovery once again we truly thank those that have supported us and donated there are truly lovely people out there Regards Grant Sue and Thomas McCallum
