Great wall of China trek

3 weeks after my 18th birthday, my Mum passed away from breast cancer. This is something that has had a huge effect on my life, and I want to prevent other families from having to go through this.

My mother was one of the most vivacious and out-going people you could ever meet. She found the lump in her breast when she was only 45, after having undergone regular mammograms as her sister passed away as a result of breast cancer. When she found her lump it was 3.2cm, mammograms are supposed to be able to detect them from as little as 2mm. Technology has advanced a lot since then, and I'm hoping it will continue to, but in the mean time I'm trying to do my bit to help.

In September 2015 I will be trekking the Great Wall of China to raise both funds and awareness about breast cancer. All funds raised will go directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. I am passionate about this cause and determined to do what I can so that no other little girls will ever be left without their mums.
