Greg Harkerss' Cancer Battle

  • Success!

      21 June 2024

    Hello everyone,

    Well, it's been three months...

Again, thank you all for your support and giving what you could to help Greg and his family out in their time of need.

It was a great relief this week to get the message from Debi announcing the news that Greg is in remission.

    Yeehah!

    Long may it continue.

What a great outcome all round.

  • Mrs Peacock Shaves Her Hair

      27 February 2024

So, this happened on Saturday! Jayne ran her own fundraiser, directly connected to this one for Greg, to raise some funds by shaving and dyeing her hair.

Her beautiful granddaughter Natalie also had her first hair cut, and Greg got his own trim. He wasn't ready to go bald yet, but personally I suspect that might be a look he'll go for in the new future!

Greg did the honors and started the shave for Jayne, while the gorgeous Tia from Eastgate Hair and Beauty finished and then painted Jayne in her lovely rainbow colours.

You can still donate to Jayne's fundraiser until the 29th February, just another couple of days, and all proceeds will go directly to Greg, so please dig deep. You'll see the link for Mrs Peacock from the main Givealittle page of Greg's.

Thank you so much Jayne 💓

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on Greg, who has now passed the halfway mark on his treatment. Chemo and radiation have been pretty good to this point but Greg hit the wall pretty hard this week. He is now relying mostly on his tube, as eating anything has become quite tough, but Greg is battling through and still has that amazing smile for everyone.

Thank you so much to everyone who has given, as it has enabled Greg to continue renting his hyperbaric chamber, something he swears is helping him get through.

  • End of month - beginning of treatment.

Well, Greg started his treatment today, after weeks of oxygen therapy and making some pretty drastic lifestyle changes to set him up to be in a great place to fight off the cancer.

Greg has also fully embraced using natural therapies to not only shrink the cancer but to support his body with all the side effects that could make life even more difficult throughout his treatment.

The coming weeks will be a rough ride for Greg, so please keep him in your thoughts.

There are a couple of additional fundraisers being held for Greg, including a head shaving fundraiser by Jayne Bodger and a pool competition being run by Adam Lilley, so please get behind these events if you can. Every little bit counts.

Let me know if you want more information on any of these additional fundraisers.

    - Paulette.

  • First Third Done

      11 January 2024

Hi everyone, thank you so much for donating to this cause. Greg will be starting his treatment at the end of January, right around the time he will receive his first payment from this Givealittle page, thanks to your generous donations. We have raised over $5,000 in this first month which will cover the rental costs on the hyperbaric chamber for the thirteen weeks. Our hopes are that people continue to give a little when they can to help with other costs (Greg will be unable to work for some time over the course of his treatment and while recovering) and if we can raise enough, he will be able to purchase the chamber outright so that he can continue this valuable support to his recovery.

Greg's attitude and outlook is amazing. He had some good news this week in that the cancer has not spread to anywhere else, but the coming road will still be a rough one, so we wish him well. Please keep him in your thoughts.

The clicking over of the new year means big challenges for Greg, including surgery and extensive therapy.

He's going into it with an amazing attitude and we wish him well.

    Please keep sharing and giving!
