Help Gussy have a forever home & a healthy life

$135 donated
Given by 4 generous donors in 10 weeks

Help Gussy receive the medical procedures he needs to be kept happy & healthy in his forever home.

Northland

It was always my dream to have a pet pig.

We now have a horse mad daughter who's dream is to have a pony, (this was my dream too as a girl)

So we took the plunge and sold our family home for a small lifestyle block, and then along came Gussy!

We were told his mother was a kune kune and his father a kune kune x saddleback.

Sadly I think we were lied to, he is getting massive!

We decided we should get him a girlfriend as we were advised pigs are highly sociable and should not be kept alone, so along came Nugget, a pure kune kune who is much smaller!

Then along came the bad news... we tried to get Gussy neutered & they could only find one testicle...

He went back for another check and now none can be found...

Our problem... Gus & Nugget will soon be able to reproduce.

I do not want to bring piglets into this world, because of gussys large breed it is highly unlikely they will find good homes & possibly be eaten (this is my worst nightmare, i have also become vegan this year) and also Gussy is very likely to have future health issues because of his testicles being inside his body possibly making them cancerous etc

Pigs don't do well under the drugs required for this type of surgery & the only place I have found that could do the surgery is an 8 hour drive away... and it's NOT cheap, we are talking in the $1000s...

We are the type of people that will do absolutely anything for our pets, most of them are rescues but the problem is when we brought our lifestyle block (a real do up as that's all we could afford, but a start to making our dreams come true) we were lied to and found out the boundary goes halfway through our garage and water tank etc & has now turned into a massive legal battle.

So instead of moving into our dream home, doing it up and getting our daughter a pony we are all sleeping in one room, (update, we have managed to paint our daughter a room yay!) the fireplace wsnt working, the septic tank had issues (these were all supposed to be sorted) we have no curtains, the roof leaks, the kitchen & bathroom are in desperate need of repairs and ALL of our money has gone to the lawyers to right this wrong.

We struggle each & every week to stay on top of our bills while we pay the lawyers.

We don't understand how or why people can be so dishonest.

Im also trying to set up my dog boarding business which I have had alot of support for but sadly have already run out of funds due to the legal fees we have had to pay, its been a very very tuff winter.

My husband works 5-6 days a week & we are doing the best we can but sadly things dont always go to plan & we are trying so hard to not let the stress of this whole situation get to us, but we dont know what else to do.

We havnt even had enough money to start our garden again which we heavily rely on to feed us and our animals.

Now we have our beautiful pigs that we dnt want to give up on. They love each other so much we would hate to separate them, we can't let them have babies (gussys problem can be passed on to his young) and our only option is to get the surgery done or lose them, it's breaking our hearts.

Please help us keep these two beautiful animals happy together forever.

I know there are plenty of people out there with more serious needs, but to us, any help would mean the absolute world to us & our piggies

Use of funds

To help pay for the surgery Gussy needs to make sure he can't reproduce (his problem can also be passed onto his young) & live out his life happily with his little girlfriend Nugget

More options  28 July 2017

We are so thankful for the donations that have been made already!

We have some good news, we have found a local vet that has preferred this surgery before & also that there may be an option to put Nugget on birth control so that Gussy can have some more time to develop, so fingers crossed!

If he does and they manage to preform a standard neutering prodcedure we would love to be able to refund the donations or pass them on to another animal charity, there are so any that need our help!

Thank you all once again, it truly means a lot!
