Te Hamua & Benita Tahuri, with small group - total 6 head to Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to HAKA with the water protectors in #NoDAPL
Gisborne
The call has gone out...and we are taking action on their heartfelt cries to us here in Aoteaora.
We will travel to Standing Rock to support, serve the needs of the water protectors and to show our collective support with our Native brothers and sisters at Standing Rock.
With these raised funds, Benita Tahuri (Sistah B) and I (The HAATI Coastie) and a small group, see below other members are making ourselves available to travel to Standing Rock in support. Our main objective to show our collective support through this Haka, this hikoi (journey) and share the aroha (love) from our homelands in Aotearoa. We will feed back as much information as we can back home to you all and capture the stories behind the scenes at the campsites.
All members of our crew: Te Hamua Nikora, Benita Tahuri, Honey Whakatope, Ninakaye Taanetinorau, Kereama Te Ua & Marcus Lloyd,
We are also all individually fundraising and working hard to gather in finance and resource to help get ourselves over. Your koha and contribution is hugely appreciated. We thank you for supporting the battle to protect the waters. This is a worldwide movement and we are proud to be a part of this kaupapa.
All funds raised will be used ONLY in support of our costs to get over to Standing Rock, or provide support at Standing Rock directly with supplies.
We need to raise as much funding as possible so that we are able to provide them with more resources to continue the Stand.
All expenditure will be tracked and we will provide you all with the updates of spend of this koha.
I'm involved because WATER IS LIFE
Sistah B feels the same and that we are all kaitiaki - protectors of mother earth.
She has always had a passion for the rights of all indigenous peoples, protection of lands and seas and has along with their band NRG Rising travelled to Native lands sharing story and song over the past few years.
Sistah B and I have both I heard the call, felt the spirit of our anscestors, and are shaken by the vibrations. This call resonated with us stongly, that we had to take action. The memory and knowing of our strong connections from our Native American relatives have been heard. The Facebook call from Myron Dewey came and we just could not turn a deaf ear to it.
Support us to show our collective support for ALL protectors and guardians of the lands, its happening there and here also in Aotearoa and already our own water is being shipped out of Aotearoa. The time has come, and our time will come too.
