This page will provide support for Haley and Aimee as they go through round 2 of Haley's cancer treatment.
Hokitika, West Coast
On January 30th 2020 Haley was told the one thing you never want to hear – “It’s Cancer”
Haley’s diagnosis was a genetic form of Breast Cancer called PALB2. This strain is extremely rare and because of that not much is known about it or how it works. Since diagnosis Haley has had a Double Mastectomy with 17 lymph nodes removed, chemotherapy for 12 months, 8 weeks of radiation treatment & has been on hormone therapy for 1.5 years.
On Friday 22 July after feeling unwell, Haley had blood tests which indicated her haemoglobin and white cell counts were critically low. After two blood transfusions and a CT scan Haley and Aimee were given the news that the cancer has returned and is now in her vertebrae (Spine) Haley will begin her second round of Chemotherapy on Tuesday 26 July. Haley will unfortunately not be able to return to her full-time job as the length of treatment at this stage is unknown.
Haley has fought the dreaded 'C' once and we know she can do it again. The financial support through crowdfunding at the beginning of this journey was hugely helpful and both Haley and Aimee know that this is a way that the people who love and care for them can help by easing the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
Haley and Aimee always knew that is was possible the cancer could return, but they were hoping for a few more years of respite. Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
I am Haley's mother-in-law (Aimee's mum).
Costs incurred for treatment (travel, accommodation, meals, vitamins and supplements, specialist treatments to aide recovery) as well as to cover expenses (day-to-day costs, bills, Aimz leave without pay to look after Haley etc) while Haley is off work.

Haley and Aimz decided to tie the knot. They had a beautiful civil union ceremony at Haley's parents' place in Turiwhate on August 13th. It was a magical day. Aimz and Haley were surrounded by love and laughter the whole day. The day went off without a hitch. It may have only been two weeks of planning but when it's meant to be....all the stars align. ⭐
