Source to Sea is a project run by The Halo Project, working with our communities to enhance native biodiversity.
Dunedin, Otago
The Halo Project Source to Sea is working with our community to plant, fence and restore waterways, wetlands, and forest habitat in Coastal Otago, from West Harbour-Mount Cargill to the Waikouaiti River. Source to Sea’s project goals are to:
- Help native wildlife, both freshwater and terrestrial
- Improve forest habitat and freshwater conditions
- Protect wetlands
- Provide training and employment opportunities for local people
The Halo Project is a grass-roots, community organisation with a mission to inspire and work with our communities to enhance, protect and connect with our landscape. Our vision is - from Silverpeaks to sea, communities and nature thriving in balance.
From Silverpeaks to Sea, we aim to inspire and work with our communities to enhance, protect and connect with this landscape.
Donations to Source to Sea go directly to the project to support employment of staff to plant and care for native species.

This year we're working hard to control pest plants atop Mihiwaka - Kāpuka-Taumāhaka/Mt Cargill including removing pesky wilding pines and some seriously threatening sycamore. We are keen to continue planting seedlings but lack the funding to do so! Every little bit helps and we are grateful for your support!
Kā mihi nui,
Alice and the Halo team
