Harriet's best chance of beating melanoma is expensive, non-government funded drug treatment. Help to give her the best chance possible!

Auckland

She’s one of life’s true givers and determined battlers, but right now Harriet is facing the fight of her life and she needs our help to overcome her biggest battle yet.

Just over 12 weeks ago, my amazing friend and inspirational mum to two girls, was rushed to hospital after experiencing seizures. Harriet was quickly diagnosed with multiple tumours in her brain and lung. Testing confirmed these were secondary tumours from a melanoma that was removed from her back 10 years ago. Despite being one of the fittest and most health-conscious people I know, she now has the most aggressive and deadly form of this cancer.

In the last short while Harriet has bravely undergone a raft of treatments: brain surgery, biopsies, MRI scans, CT scans, and radiation. Just recently doctors discovered new tumours in her spine and brain, which were treated with further gruelling radiation treatments and a second invasive brain surgery.

As we’ve come to expect from our battler, she has maintained a fighting spirit throughout and is determined to beat this. But willpower alone isn’t going to get her through.

The next step in Harriet’s battle is targeted drug treatment. The drugs Harriet needs for her specific type of melanoma are not funded and will cost her family, who are now down to a single income, $22,000 a month! These drugs do however have a high rate of success (70%-80%), and are her best hope.

All money raised from this Give A Little page will go towards helping Harriet and her family fund this drug so that she has the best chance possible of beating the disease, not only for herself, but for her young daughters, her husband, and her family and friends.

Thank you for your support!

I am lucky enough to be one of Harriet's oldest friends. We have known each other since we were 8 years old and I am godmother to her eldest daughter. Harriet is an amazing mum and friend to many and I have started this page to try and ease some of the financial burden Harriet and her husband are now under, trying to fund the melanoma drugs she needs, to give her the best chance of beating this deadly disease. Thank you so much for any support you can provide.
