Help Harvey Get the Surgery He Needs ❤️

Harvey the pup was given to us a while ago. He's a beautiful mixed-breed puppy with the sweetest, most affectionate nature. As far as dogs go he is one in a thousand. Sadly within a few days we noticed slight problem with his hind leg(s) so took him to the vet who diagnosed luxated patellas in both knees. It was hard to pick up on as his walk seemed 100% most of time but after he played it became more obvious.

We told the previous owner about this and he offered to take Harvey back but was unable to pay for the operation and was devastated as he thought that Harvey would need to be put down once his legs deteriorated and caused him a lot of pain.

We decided to keep him and told the owner of our decision that we would somehow raise the money to have his leg's fixed. In young dogs the prognosis is excellent, about a 95% success rate if his recovery is well managed. Once he recovers he'll be able to play and run to his heart's content.

It is a straightforward operation. The vet reshapes the shin bone knee so the kneecap stays in place - he may need both knees operated on.

The surgery costs around $3,000 -$3,500 for each leg.

Our family will be contributing towards Harvey's surgery, but we can't cover the full cost. That's why we're asking for your help.

If you're unable to donate, sharing Harvey's story would mean the world to us.

Thank you for helping give this special boy the future he deserves.

Harvey, an adorable young pup who needs surgery to return to a happy active life. Once he has recovered he will be the perfect playmate for our grieving dog, Laika, who lost her beloved offsider Thor to cancer a few weeks ago.

Use of funds

Every dollar raised will go towards Harvey's knee operation. If we don't reach the full amount needed, we'll keep raising funds and contribute ourselves until the vet's bill is fully covered.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
