Hawera to Havelock. An endurance run from Hawera to Havelock in celebration and memory of Samuel Gibson.
Hawke's Bay
Starting on Tuesday the 8th of November Lisa Tamati, Neil Wagstaff and Haisley O’Leary will complete an endurance run from Hawera to Havelock in celebration and memory of Samuel Gibson. As most of you that are reading this page are aware, Samuel was training for an endurance event in the South Island when tragedy struck and he suffered a fatal head injury.
You may be aware that the original event was to raise money for Ryuki, (to see more on the Ryuki story visit https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/ryukiwithoi), a young boy born with the same condition as Samuel, Osteogenesis Imperfector. Well, from the tragedy of Samuel’s death, those funds were raised, and that give a little page is now closed. So the funds from this event will go to another worthy recipient – “the next Ryuki” you might say.
Please support us in completing what Samuel set out to do and at the same time change another young boy or girl’s life for the better. This fundraiser was something that Samuel was very passionate about and those involved are honoured to complete what he had set out to do.
Thank you for your support.

The journey... 10 November 2016
What an awesome week this has been. The team made their way across the island beginning on Tuesday morning in Hawera and finishing on Thursday in Havelock North. These runners have put themselves through all sorts of pain for this fundraising effort and it has paid off. Thanks to all the generous donations received from around the world on this Givealittle page and from our generous group of sponsors, we look forward to helping in some way to make life just a little easier and more rewarding for some with a disability. We want to do this in a way that our good friend Samuel Gibson would have wanted.
From all of us on the Hawera to Havelock team, a great big Thank You.
