Fundraiser for Hawke's Bay students to compete at World Robot Championships
Hawke's Bay
12 students across two different levels of Robotics have been selected to represent New Zealand at an international robotics competition in Texas this coming April.
Twins, Isla and Max Atkins, Nelson Bawden, Annabelle Rae, Pete August from Havelock North Intermediate and Aiden Summersby from Mayfair School were selected from FIRST LEGO League National Championships earlier this month with LEGO robots they designed, built and coded themselves.
The pupils also came up with a simple way to separate hydrogen from water as a part of the research project component of the competition.
Meanwhile, Jimmy August, Ruby Langford, Austen Jones, Ella White, and Tapas Kant From Havelock North High School along with Maryjane Richards from Karamu are competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships at the same event.
The representation across both levels of the global robotics competition is a first for New Zealand. This incredible opportunity is set to put Hawkes's Bay on the map for robotics - also known as "sport for the mind" - and will no doubt generate exciting future opportunities in the field of technology for these hard working students and Hawke's Bay robotics in general.
Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated by the team who are determined to make New Zealand proud of their efforts.
Lucknow School is a small school in the heart of Hawkes Bay. We cater for a diverse range of amazing students, and aim to create amazing learning experiences which inspires and excite our tamariki.
To be able to participate in the World Competition, the team needs to raise money for the flights, accommodation and team entry fee costs.
