  • Aku mihi

      1 October 2019

Kia ora koutou. Thank you to everyone who donated to this campaign! I really appreciate the support. Even thought we didn't reach the goal, your support will be very helpful - it will cover the costs of the design, and some of the costs associated with hosting the website. I'm very excited about this project - I've already started conducting the interviews - and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. Aku mihi, nā Piripi. :)

Thank you to everyone who has already donated! :D

There are just a few days left. Are you able to support this kaupapa?

So far, 15 people have agreed to contribute content to the site, and I've already started conducting some of the interviews. If you're able to, please help to make this project happen - every little bit counts.

    Aku mihi. :)

  • Why am I doing this?

      21 September 2019

    Mōrena koutou.

The campaign has got off to a good start! Thank you to those who have already donated.

Here’s a little more about why I’m doing this. As most of you know, I’m passionate about te ao Māori, animal rights, and climate action. This project explores all three - but rather than just sharing my ideas, the aim is to share the kōrero of Māori from diverse iwi who are doing things their way. Some of these are vegetarians/vegans, some are pursuing traditional Māori diets, some are focused on reducing their environmental impact in order to live in closer relationship with Papatūānuku (Mother Earth), some are animal rights activists who care passionately about non-human animals and believe that our treatment of animals relates to how we treat the planet, some are academics who are exploring rangatiratanga and its intersections with te taiao (the natural world)...

I want to share the inspiring stories of inspiring people, and help more of us to make connections between these kaupapa. There’s a lot happening! And by grouping some of these kōrero together, I believe we will see that there is movement happening in te ao Māori that not all of us are aware of... I think it could inspire more of us to make healthier, more sustainable choices.

In some ways, this project is an extension of he article I wrote last year: https://thespinoff.co.nz/atea/16-11-2018/but-what-about-boil-up-how-maori-are-embracing-veganism/

If you can help out, please get behind this project.

    Aku mihi.
