Sick Kids

Ryan Connolly and Cris Fulton are offering to shave their substantial heads of hair for charity. Ryan suffers from asthma, as does his daughter, so he is well aware of the challenges having asthma poses for individuals and their families. One in 7 children and 1 in 9 adults in NZ are prescribed medication for asthma – which means over 56,000 people in Canterbury suffer from asthma including over 12,800 children. His wife has just been diagnosed with asthma and Bronchiectasis - a lung condition which can sometimes be a result of untreated chest infections. The family would like to raise awareness of the importance of getting breathing problems and chest infections checked out by a Doctor. Sometimes cost is what puts some people off going to get checked out, leading to worse chest problems but assistance might be available - just ask your doctor.

The head shave will take place in the last week of November so donate now.

CanBreathe provides free education and support to individuals and families with asthma and other respiratory conditions. CanBreathe also provides free education sessions for pupils, parents and teachers at pre schools and schools. CanBreathe's services cover the whole of the Canterbury region - from Ashburton through to Kaikoura.
