Heavily Pregnant - Hiding in a Safe House

Please help my friend who is heavily pregnant, with none of her belongings in a Women's Refuge safe house.

Auckland

A few weeks ago I had a call from a close friend (her name is left off here, for confidentiality reasons) and I was shocked at the trauma she has had to go through over the last few months. This is what has led me to create this Give-a-Little page.

For the sake of this page, lets call her 'Emma'.

Emma is just like you and me. Smart, humble, funny, successful. She has always had her head screwed on, has a little boy in primary school, worked in a corporate industry and generally had her life on-track for as long as I've known her. This story just goes to show, you never know what is going on behind closed doors, of even the most normal, 'together' people.

After a overdue catch up after a few months, she explained to me that she was expecting a little boy and was just over the 20 week mark. She went on to tell me that it had not been an easy pregnancy and that the baby was very unsettled. I asked her how her partner was supporting her and she began to cry.

She told me that she was currently living in a house belonging to Women's Refuge and had to leave her home without anything - no furniture, no vehicle, no clothing, none of her children's belongings, her beloved pets etc. She fled an extremely toxic, abusive environment. A toxic environment from what I had always perceived as a stable, loving relationship.

This proves that we never know what others are really going through - and things aren't always how we initially perceive them from the outside looking in.

The reason I have created this page is because I want to help her get on her feet to hopefully buy some baby clothes, perhaps have some money to put towards a new home and vehicle. Emma currently walks her son 1 hour to school and back, every day - now heavily pregnant.

She hasn't just lost her partner, her belongings, her home and pets...but she has lost confidence in herself. Someone so much like me and you, has to start completely from scratch - with a new baby.

We are currently all in lock-down due to Covid-19 as I create this page. I know personally, I go to a cafe every day to buy a latte around mid-morning, which I have not been doing during this lock-down. A latte is about $5. If we all donate that morning coffee of $5 or more (whatever you can afford) I feel like we could really help someone that is a fantastic mother with a big heart, get her life back on track with a happy healthy new baby and a new life. We can make a difference to three lives today xx

Sara Davis' involvement (page creator)

I am raising money on behalf of one of my close friends, who is currently heavily pregnant in womens refuge. She has escaped an abusive relationship whilst pregnant and I want to help her get on her feet to be prepared for this new baby.

Use of funds

The money will be spent on baby clothes, baby capsule and starting a whole new life.
