Hi everyone, this is Pooja. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this...
Just couple of days ago before coming to NZ, my parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary - a beautiful milestone that filled our hearts with love and gratitude. They arrived in New Zealand to spend time with me and their grand children, excited to make more memories together.
But life had other plans...
Within days of arrival, Dad fell critically ill. What started as a simple stomach upset turned into a nightmare - his esophagus ruptured, leading to internal bleeding, severe infections and emergency surgery. He is now in hospital since 3rd November 2024, with numerous surgeries, multiple infections and relying on machines to stay alive and get back home to get better, fighting a battle none of us saw coming.
Those of you who know my dad, know he's the strongest person - always full of life. But now, he needs our strength to pull through.
The medical bills have been overwhelming, already crossing $210,000 NZD as at till Xmas with still increasing on daily basis and expected to be somewhere around $315,000 NZD needed for his recovery and rehabilitation. It's far beyond what we can manage as a family, and I am turning to you friends, family and kind-hearted strangers- for help.
Every dollar, every share of this message, every prayer matters. Please help us bring Dad back to us, back to his family who loves him

Back again.. 26 April 2025
So we are back again with the same problem. Hos esophagus has ruptured again this morning and we are back again at the hospital. Thankfully the team knows the trouble are onto it to solve quickly. Till then please keep us in your thoughts 🙏
The situation is complicated as the rupture has created infection in his chest and till that doesn't clear they can't do a surgery to fix the rupture. Putting a chest drain utself is more complicated due to reoccurring in a short span of time.
