Help a displaced family for Christmas

We’re the Demansers. We have been displaced from our home in Eskdale since the 14th of February 2023.

To this day we are still at the mercy of the Hawkes Bay Regional Council (HBRC) who have not moved our home from the 2A Category. We haven’t been able to touch our home, we cannot move on. We know we are one among many and it’s heartbreaking. I am our streets advocate and have been fighting and trying so hard to get HBRC to change our category so we can all move on, to no avail. Yet. We haven’t given up!

Insurance displacement has run out and contents only went so far seeing as we are nearly 10 months down the track now. We are extremely lucky to have subsidised rent, however we are still paying for a mortgage and rent on top of this. After 2023 being such a year of loss and grief for us and Christmas now looming I decided to reach out for help.

I want to bring magic back for Christmas for our girls.

It has been so overwhelming having to replace everything including “Santa” things

I want to be able to do some family-based things to boost our wellbeing as well.

Our first displaced Christmas is going to be hard. I have linked pages to our rebuild that we had hoped would have been finished by now 💔

Please help me so that I can try bring some light and magic back into our life and finish 2023 off better than it started.
