Helping a friend travel to say goodbye to her much loved Dad.
Timaru, Canterbury
(my close friend and her partner) are trying to get to taranaki as he dad is aged 89 and he has congenital heart failure and cancer, and has been told he is in the final stages of kidney failure. And has been told he has not a lot of time left in this world. My friend can not fly up as she has health issues herself, that makes it so she can not fly. So she has to drive from the middle of south island up to New Plymouth and stay in the motor camp as there is no family or friends she can stay with there. She has approached Work and Income for financial assistance and all they say to her is sorry can not help unless the person has died. She has been told by doctors if she wants to say goodbye to her father she has to go up as soon as possible to see him and say her final goodbye.
She is needing the money to pay for the return ferry for herself and her husband , plus petrol to get to Taranaki and back home again as well as accommodation and food while up there.
I am a close friend who is trying my best to help a close friend see her father before he has gone.
The ferry both ways and accommodation and petrol. But depends on how long they are up there. Her husband can fly up there so from Timaru it's around $645 one way and from Christchurch it's around $450 one way, food and miscellaneous things.
My Dad 21 May 2023
My Dad has been in hospice and all his organs are shutting down faster than expected. He has been fighting to stay with us but doctors say it's a one day at a time thing now.
Thank you so much, It means a lot to me
