To help a para-athlete achieve her dreams
Taranaki
Hi, I’m Amy Ellis, and I’m incredibly proud to share that I have been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 Athletics Oceania Championships in Darwin, Australia, from May 18–23.
As an internationally classified Para athlete, I will be competing in the Para Women’s 100m and 200m events. I’m excited for the opportunity to race on the international stage and give it my all on the track. I’ve been training consistently each week, working hard toward achieving personal bests in Australia.
I have three eye conditions and an acuity of 6/60. This means that what someone with typical vision can see from 60 metres away, I need to be just 6 metres away to see—and even then, it is still blurry. Because of my vision impairment.
Unfortunately, this opportunity is fully self-funded, with total costs exceeding $5,000. This includes travel, accommodation, coaching, and competition-related expenses. These costs also do not include expenses for my support person (my dad), which adds an additional financial challenge.
To help make this possible, I’ve created a Givealittle page to support my journey to represent New Zealand.

My long-term goal is to qualify for the 2028 Paralympic Games, and this competition is an important step along that pathway.
Any support means the world. Thank you for helping me chase this dream.
