Help a young mum gain her quality of life back!

  • The first step of my journey COMPLETE

Hello everyone :) I’m so happy to report despite complications I am doing well - On Monday I had coils a metre in length inserted into my veins in my pelvis . A procedure called ovarian vein embolisation . I’ve attached a photo for reference on my condition and how they treat it .

This was to close off the source of my vascular issue .

In three months after healing has finished I will move on with my surgeon to the next step of having a similar procedure done on my legs to shut down all the veins that were unfortunately damaged from these problem veins in my pelvis ( this is the last part of my journey that you have all helped to cover due to this part not being covered or offered to me publicly )

I was extremely lucky after many news stories with Jess Roden and pleading with our health system that I was offered this embolisation of my veins (a 47 thousand dollar surgery ) , all done publicly in Christchurch !!

I’m really on the home stretch now to hopefully get back to my full self ❤️

I wanted to let everyone aware also , that I am now also advocating for women in similar positions to me who have had a pelvic congestion syndrome diagnosis but are not being offered any publicly funded treatments.

I’m hoping for change on that so others don’t have to suffer the same way I have .

Thank you so much for everyone who has helped me get to where I am today .

    Sophie

  • What a year!

      21 October 2025

What a year this has been . Getting to what I thought was the end of my journey and then having more set backs . The trick with this condition I am beginning to learn is that it is not usually the sole issue and the issue is the need for multiple tests and visits . The funds I have raised have only partially covered my health costs now . Therefor I am Still awaiting MRI scans to be done publicly as this is $2000 in itself .

Next month ( yet to be confirmed ) I’ve been told I will have the pelvic veins fixed which is costing 40,000 thankfully again something I’ve managed to get funded - this is the surgery needed before my leg treatments ( the amount I have raised has gone to this when I am ready to have this done ).

“To stop the waterfall from the top “ the surgeon has explained. More updates as I get them :)

Thanks you so much for reading and donating ❤️

  • Awaiting for a CT venogram

      22 February 2025

I am on hold for treatment due to changes in my symptoms and now require a venogram to rule out any compressions with in my pelvis or abdomen .finding the source of the blood restriction before treatment is my best chance at any treatment I receive working and being the right treatment for me .

  • Sophie’s health update !

      8 February 2025

After raising the funds I am beyond happy that I can get the treatment I need on my legs - although I have hit another road block with our health system .

Due to the lack of knowledge on pelvic congestion syndrome I am constantly finding out new information from our overseas surgeons regarding what steps to take next.

And how can I make sure I am using what I have raised to the best I can in regards to fixing my health

I have now been informed( due to my change in symptoms recently ) that without a Venogram CT to rule out any compression syndrome they will not do the treatment on my legs as this could cause me more problems down the track or for the same problem to re occur . Which we definitely want to avoid !

I will now need to use 1600$ of what I have raised to get the CT venogram done so that I can hopefully rule out any compressions in my pelvis.

From there I will know more .

Thank you all from the very bottom of my heart for making this possible for me
