An appeal to support an Afghan refugee school in Qom, Iran, providing vulnerable children with essential education, warmth, and sanitation.
Auckland
The Al-Zahra Association of Auckland is calling on our community and supporters to assist a deeply vulnerable group: Afghan refugee children living in Qom, Iran.
We are currently raising funds for a small, independent school that serves children from Afghan refugee families who have extremely limited access to education and basic services. This school is often the only source of learning and hope for these children - many of whom would otherwise be on the streets, working or begging to survive.
What Your Donations Will Help With:
- Paying teachers' wages
- Providing educational resources - books, stationery, and supplies
- Expanding classroom space to accommodate growing student numbers
- Purchasing heaters as winter approaches – classrooms are currently unheated
- Improving sanitation – the school has only one toilet
These are basic, essential needs - without them, many of these children may lose their only opportunity to get an education.
Al-Zahra Association of Auckland is a volunteer-led group supporting Muslim women, youth, and families through community programs and events that foster empowerment, well-being, and belonging in a safe, inclusive environment.
Funds will be used to pay teachers’ wages, provide educational materials, expand classroom space, purchase heaters for winter, and improve sanitation facilities at the school.
