Help Sai fundraise to help Afghan community resettling in Wellington NZ
Wellington
Hi, my name is Sai Parekh, I am 10 years old, and I do a fundraiser every year for my birthday. This year I have decided to do a fundraiser to help Afghan women resettling in NZ.
I came to know about them when we went to watch the movie called “the Secret Marathon” for a fundraiser by 261Fearless, a non-profit organization. The movie is about women in Afghanistan who run a marathon against people who try to stop them. The movie showed me how hard life might be for the women there. I want to show them that they are welcome in our country and we can help them to make New Zealand their home. I wanted to support the Afghan community resettling in New Zealand.
All the donations raised will go through the Changemakers Resettlement Forum, who provide support to to the Afghan evacuee families resettling in Wellington.
This year to raise funds, I am going to run 5 km on the 14th of May 2022 at 9am starting from Te Papa. I would be delighted if people wanted to join me in supporting this wonderful cause.
In addition to running, we will be selling some Indian food. You can also show your support by buying some of our paintings done along with help from my mum. You can see the paintings on our personal blog at https://sharingthespiceoflife.com/category/arts-crafts/acrylic/
Please open your heart to help and support this amazing community.
The Changemakers Resettlement Forum is a charity helping refugees from various countries resettle in New Zealand. The Afghan evacuees family will benefit from this fundraiser.
The money will be paid directly to the Afghan community charity (ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum) which will help people in their settling process when they arrive in NZ.
