Help Aisha beat Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) by having her family with her in Dunedin for the challenging journey of treatment and recovery
Dunedin, Otago
Aisha is 23 years old, lives in Dunedin and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) out of the blue on 3 July 2023. While the family was reeling to come to terms with what that means, Chemotherapy started within 4 days of the diagnosis and at this stage will take 4 to 6 months.
To best support her, Leyla and Scott (her parents) have temporarily relocated to Dunedin from the North Island, to be with her daily. This meant they have had to rent accommodation to live and to have a place to work remotely and this also allows for Aisha to spend her out-of-hospital time cared for by her parents.
While the cost of Aisha’s medical treatment is covered at this stage - having a second home, daily city parking, and allowing for her brother to visit from Wellington every now and then is adding financial pressure to the challenging journey ahead. Any support you’re able to offer is helping Aisha beat cancer, so we can keep focusing on her treatment and recovery.
My name is Luca, I’m 18 and Aisha’s younger brother, currently studying in Wellington - I’ve set up this page to support my family to stay in Dunedin while Aisha gets cancer treatment.
Renting accommodation in Dunedin, so Aisha’s parents can support her during cancer treatment. Any excess would go towards her recovery period after chemo, which can take another 3-6 months before she can take up work again.

Just a quick note to share our gratitude for all the amazing support we’ve been showered with over the last 6 months! Our family is finally back together at our home, Aisha has finished her whole cycle of Chemotherapy, and now just need a time of rest. We don't know what would've happened without everyone's support, but your lovely messages has given us much strength to help Aisha get through this process. The page will now close soon, but we will all remember your support for a long time, its helped us more then you can know. Here's hoping Aisha gets a wonderful recovery period,
Thank you all, have a wonderful life!
-Luca
