Hey everyone,
My name is Ali, I am 23 years old and I am currently bedbound from Long COVID in the form of ME/cfs. I have been sick since 2021 and thought I was recovering (I was able to work again) but now I am back where I started. ME/cfs is a devastating and underresearched illness for which our health system offers little to no support or information or proper tests. Most days I can only get out of bed to use the bathroom. It is devastating to go from being an active, social, and involved individual to being trapped in my bedroom feeling constantly sick and at the mercy of a disease hardly anyone understands. I have finally decided to take matters into my own hands and get some real testing done but these are very expensive and not funded. Proper testing will hopefully help shed some light on why I am so sick, and hopefully offer some more treatment pathways to me than just waiting.

Ongoing cost of specialist appointments & treatment 24 November 2025
Hey everyone, here is a breakdown of what we have achieved so far, and the ongoing costs I have.
- I am no longer bedbound!! This illness often ebbs and flows, I am still sick but at least I can go outside!
- I have received a couple of new diagnoses which may seem like a bad thing but for me it means getting answers and possible treatment pathways, and a better understanding of what is making me sick. This was only possible because I was able to access a specialist thanks to your help and support.
Ongoing cost breakdown:
Meds: approximately $60 per month
Doctor & specialist appointments: $750 every 3 months
