Help Andree Get Back on Her Feet

Last year, my dear friend Andree received the devastating news that she had developed breast cancer. The timing couldn’t have been worse—she was in the middle of relocating from Hamilton to Franz Josef to begin an exciting new chapter, working with kiwi and pursuing a lifelong dream.

Instead of settling into her new life, Andree suddenly found herself in a small, remote town, facing a major health crisis far from her established support network. With limited access to healthcare and the pressures of a new job, what should have been a thrilling new start quickly turned into a nightmare.

Despite the odds, Andree has faced this journey with incredible courage. She’s completed 5 rounds of chemotherapy and recently underwent a mastectomy. Her resilience has been nothing short of inspiring.

Because Andree wanted to keep working and loved her job, she used private healthcare under her insurance that allowed her to do treatments on a Friday (missing as little work as possible). This meant a lot of travel and these ongoing costs weren’t covered under by the public health system or insurance. Andree exhausted all leave and had to take unpaid leave.
