Angela has been diagnosed with terminal Metastatic Bone Cancer - Could you please help Ange with her Travel, Medical & future Care costs?
Canterbury
Angela is our eldest daughter who, at the end of 2017, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She had surgery to remove the tumour, several lymph nodes, & breast reconstruction, then bravely carried on & completed a full round of chemotherapy & radiation over the next 15 months. It's a horrible process to go through and she was extremely ill but Angela is a very strong woman - her motto is "It is what it is" and has always just gets on with life, no matter what.
We all hoped that that would be the end of it, but this year she has now been diagnosed with bone cancer in her neck, ribs, hip and thigh, and the outlook is not very positive. Angela is currently on a plethora of medications, bone infusions & pain killers, but according to her specialists there may not much more they can do for her.
Angela devoted her whole life to bringing up her son by herself, and she has always been there for friends and family in need, especially being an amazing support person to her 90 year Grand dad after her Nana passed away. Luckily Angela has some wonderful life-long friends who have been amazing with supporting her during this time (you know who you are!)
She had a great job that she loved, but after her cancer diagnosis, and the physical effects of subsequent treatments, she had to give up work permanently, a huge financial stress.
We'd love it if you could help us, help Angela with her future travel, medical and care costs that she needs as her cancer progresses, and as her mobility becomes compromised.
John & Glenys, her Sister Tracy & Brother Jimmy, and all our family, thank you for supporting Angela's journey with your kind donations and support. Love to you all.
I'm Angela's Dad. I started this Give-a-Little to help with Angela's future medical, travel & care expenses. In 2018-19 Angela bravely underwent breast-cancer surgery, chemo & radiation but has now been diagnosed with terminal metastatic bone cancer.
The funds raised will be use for whatever Angela needs, to make the rest of her life as comfortable as possible, cover future expenses & tick a few things off her bucket list.
May 2022 Update - New Medication Regime - Visit to Whanau 22 May 2022
A quick update for May 2022
Angela's new chemotherapy and bone infusion regimes are giving her some respite and a little pain relief.
She now visits the hospital to have her chemotherapy treatment on a Monday for two successive weeks, then gets a week off for a break. Ange says the new chemo is OK and she can manage the discomfort and pain - the week off from having treatment is a bonus.
Latest scans have shown slight improvement from the periodic bone infusions but still having a lot of pain in her back for which the specialists can not pin-point the cause. The bone infusions are not pleasant and give her a lot of pain for days afterwards. She has no more radiation planned at this stage.
Angela has planned a trip to Taranaki to visit her very large whanau up there - most have not seen her since 2017 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. We all hope flights up and back are not too uncomfortable for her, as her mobility is still limited after the pin was inserted in her thigh. We will spoil here while she is here.
Again, much love and many thanks to all who have supported Angela on her nearly five year journey - We all really appreciate it.
John, Glenys and Family
