Aroha has Alopecia Universalis and we would love to provide her with a wig so she can “Whip her hair back ‘n’ forth.”
Auckland
Our daughter Aroha was diagnosed with alopecia in October 2016 at the age of 8 year’s old after we found bald patches on her head.
Over the period of 3 months, Aroha lost her entire head of hair, her eyebrows, eyelashes and all other body hair.
Alopecia is an Auto-Immume disorder which presents itself in the form of hair loss. There are 3 severities of Alopecia and Aroha has the most severe form, Alopecia Universalis, which is total body hair loss.
Aroha is an incredibly brave, strong and confident girl. When asked last year if she wanted a wig, she said, “It’s ok Mum, I don’t need a wig. I’m confident in my own skin.” AMANZING! She continues to inspire us and everyone she encounters.
Whilst she feels this way most of the time, she has recently indicated that she’d really like the option to wear a wig. She wants to be able to feel her hair blowing in her face, brush her hair and create hairstyles.
We’re wanting to provide Aroha with a suction cap, human hair wig. The reason for this type of wig is not only because of it’s very high quality and it’s practicality for kids, but more importantly for Aroha, it allows her to do everything from swimming, swinging upside down to showering and sleeping with it on.
Like everything that’s of a high quality, so is it’s price tag.
So here’s how you can help...
We are seeking support from our community of friends and family and anyone else who may wish to support Aroha to donate towards her wig.
We would like take this opportunity to thank you for your love and support towards Aroha.
Arohanui,
Logan & Amanda
Our goal is to raise $4,000 which covers the cost of consultations, head scans, moulds and the making of the wig. Any money raised above our target, will go towards the maintenance of the wig and also the styling of the wig as it arrives untouched.
