Help Azalea-Rose Be Seizure Free

Azalea-Rose is a beautiful 4 year old girl who is profoundly disabled, not being able to talk, eat or move by herself. On top of this, she faces debilitating seizures each day which can number as many as 100. Her family are desperate to make her life as comfortable as possible. Having applied and been accepted for a Ketogenic Dietary Therapy Trial, their hope is that this specific ketogenic diet will help reduce the amount of seizures she is having. However, this does not come cheaply and Azalea-Rose's family is looking to fundraise to help cover this cost.

Azalea-Rose is diagnosed with congenital CMV. As a result, she has severe global developmental delay, an acute hearing impairment, a visual impairment, suffers seizures and has an unsafe swallow. She requires full time care including daily medications, nebulizers, oxygen, suctioning, transfers between her wheelchair to standing frame and is fed by a tube. Azalea-Rose is lovingly assisted by her Nan with every and all facets of her personal care and education.

Azalea-Rose and my son attend the same special needs preschool. I have gotten to know Azalea-Rose and her Nan, Ali, very well over the past couple of years. We have shared visits to specialists, time in hospital and numerous chats about equipment, doctors and tube feeding.

Ali is totally devoted to Azalea-Rose and she is forever putting Azalea-Rose's needs ahead of her own. Ali also has an adult son who is wheelchair bound due to cerebral palsy. Tragically, Ali lost her husband a year ago, meaning she now undertakes all this care on her own. Despite all of this, Ali remains positive, committed and devoted. She is an absolute inspiration.

The family requires $6000 for the ketogenic trial, $500 for a portable nebulizer travel unit which means Ali won't have to carry heavy oxygen tanks, and $10,000 for a new mobility van that will hold both wheelchairs.
