Help baby Jules and his family in hospital

$16,667 of $15,000 goal
Given by 238 generous donors in 14 days

Please help the Forsdyke family with financial pressures while their 10 month son is in hospital in Auckland.

Mangere, Auckland

Earlier this month, the Forsdyke family’s lives were turned upside down when their gorgeous 10-month-old, Jules, was involved in an accident with a hot drink, resulting in serious burns to his face, neck, and chest. Originally at Hutt Hospital, Jules was flown to Starship hospital due to an infection. He has had to undergo multiple procedures, and is undergoing skin grafts in the coming weeks at Middlemore Hospital before continuing treatment at Hutt Hospital. As they live in the Wellington region, Elena, Luke, and big brother Otto have relocated to Auckland to be by his side, and would love to be able to stay together during this time.

As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly traumatic time for the whole family, and they still have a long journey ahead.

Elena is a full-time mum and Luke is self-employed, so we have set up this page to help ease some of the financial pressure during this time. If you are in a position to help, Elena and Luke would be so grateful.

A Big Thank You   14 April 2026

Hello beautiful people.

It's been a big couple of weeks for our little family. Seeing the support for us has left us lost for words.

We have shed many tears; for our boy who continues to be strong and courageous, but also because we’re incredibly grateful for the messages that have been streaming in, the offers of help from here and afar, and we’re absolutely blown away by the give this Givealittle page that was set up for us.

Jules has been recovering from the sepsis and was moved from ICU to a ward. This week he has been back to chatting, crawling and eating - reassuring signs he is feeling better. He’s got the nurses wrapped around his finger and loves waving to them and giving them a cheeky, toothy grin. We’ve been allowed some leave from the hospital during the day and have been coming to the apartment where Luke and Otto have been staying, which has been a much needed reprieve from the fluorescent hospital lights.

Jules is scheduled to have skin grafts tomorrow morning, and we begin the next phase of his recovery. We’re not quite sure what follows that, other than the doctors wanting to keep Jules quiet for 5 days to give the grafts a chance to take. Hopefully we’ll be back home in the coming weeks.

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity has given us the ability to stay together as a family and focus ourselves on getting our little boy back to 110%.

Peace and love,

Luke, Elena, Otto & Jules

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
