Help Us Fight for Ben
Our brave brother Ben has been fighting Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, since he was 16. Now 21, he has endured more than anyone should in a lifetime, battling this disease for five years and facing cancer now a fourth time.
Ben was first diagnosed in 2020, with a tumour in his ribs. He endured 14 rounds of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, including a rib resection. In 2022, his cancer relapsed in his scapula and lung. He underwent surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy again, joining the rEECur trial, a treatment so intense it caused kidney failure, which he still manages today.
In 2024, Ben relapsed in his hip. His oncology team explained chemotherapy was no longer a good option, so he had a hip replacement at just 20. Now, Ben has relapsed a fourth time in his trochanter bone, near his hip. Doctors in New Zealand cannot operate as present, due to the tumour’s location. He is undergoing three weeks of radiation before his case is reviewed.
Ewing Sarcoma is extremely rare, and treatment options in New Zealand are limited. We urgently need your help to access specialist sarcoma centres overseas for a second opinion and possible treatment.
Please help give Ben a chance at life. Every contribution will go directly toward getting him the specialist care he desperately needs. Ben continues to fight with incredible courage.
🙏 Thank you for supporting Ben.
Ben is my younger brother.
Every contribution will go towards seeking a consult + possible treatment plan with an American Ewings Sarcoma Specialist. We are also looking into UK Specialists. While also assisting Ben's quality of life.
Update on Ben’s Health 3 January 2026
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for the ongoing love, messages, and support for Ben and our family.
Recent scans have shown that Ben’s Ewing sarcoma has spread to his pancreas. The tumour is large (12.6 cm x 7.3 cm x 8 cm) and appears to have grown significantly within just over a month, making this a complex and serious situation.
Ben’s CT scan has also shown suspicious fluid in his abdomen (ascites). Ascites is a build-up of fluid that has been causing Ben pain, bloating, and discomfort, making it harder for him to eat and maintain his strength. The scan has also identified small nodes near the bowel, which are still being investigated.
Ben is currently in hospital receiving specialist care focused on managing pain and symptoms while further investigations are underway. He is waiting for an endoscopic biopsy to confirm the nature of the pancreatic tumour. In New Zealand, only a small number of specialised surgeons can perform this procedure, resulting in an anxious wait.
The funds raised will help us explore specialist care options overseas and support Ben’s quality of life and comfort during this incredibly challenging time.
Ben continues to show incredible strength, and we are deeply grateful for every message, share, and donation.
With love and gratitude,
The Hutton family.
