Help Blake access treatment to win his battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma
Canterbury
Penny is Blakes mum, fighting for her son’s survival.
Blake was fit & active when his world was turned upside down in March ‘23. He is a loved brother & talented BMXer. Before his diagnosis he was travelling the world to BMX events living his best life. His world was shattered when they received the news he had Stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma; a rare & aggressive sarcoma.
He started on an intensive chemo & radiation plan which was going well until a routine scan found the cancer had mutated & had become resistant to chemo.
Penny has fought with every ounce of her will to seek options, pay for expensive consults of sarcoma specialists in USA, paying for additional genetic testing & seeking help from genetic specialists in Australia to find a targeted option.
Blake was put onto a 2nd line chemo option over summer, hoping it would at least control the cancer & give him some quality of life back, unfortunately it’s not working.
His best chance now relies on unfunded drug options & overseas treatments.
Penny has had to fight to even get the new drug regime prescribed for Blake. Every step of the way there are roadblocks. At a time where she should be focusing supporting Blake she has to fight with every ounce of energy she has left. It is exhausting.
One drug Pazopanib costs $6,500 monthly. The other option they are looking into requires an international lab to create a targeted treatment - we will update you when this is confirmed.
The last thing they should be worrying about is how they fund the next set of drugs.
Any help would be appreciated x
I am a friend of Pennys who is also the mum to a cancer warrior and we stick together!
