Brayden Hughes won a world Jiu-Jitsu title in 2024. In 2025, his goal is to podium in the Pan Pacific championships in Melbourne, Australia.
Hawera, Taranaki
In 2024, with enormous community support, Brayden attended the SJJIF Jiu Jitsu World Championships in Nagoya and brought home a gold medal!
In 2025, he's hoping to head to Melbourne in October for the IBJJF Pan Pacific Championships and hopefully, climb back on to the podium!
At 15 years old, Brayden has developed immensely in his Jiu-Jitsu journey. It all began in 2020 with the intention to find a way to manage some of his disruptive ADHD behaviours. Little did any of us expect that his first competition would earn him a National title, and eventually lead to a World Championship title!
Brayden's love for the sport is only becoming more intrenched, his passion to continue to learn and grow just becomes deeper and deeper. He has an opportunity to again represent his club, STMA (South Taranaki Martial Arts), his hometown of Hāwera, and New Zealand on the international stage in Melbourne, Australia and we would love to be able to get him there!
All funds raised will go towards competition & travel costs, flights and accommodation.
We are so thankful for the continued support from his supporters, community and cheerleaders as he travels around New Zealand and beyond. None of this would be possible without each and every one of you! Thank you all so much!
I am one of Brayden's loudest cheerleaders, his Mum!
